In Memory of Tom

1977 – 2026
A photograph of Tom

Tom, my wonderful friend, passed away in March 2026 after a long illness, he was 48 years old. I met Tom at school and we went through important early life events together, then college, then University and then out into the adult world. He was sage like in his wisdom and generous with his time. His life wasn't long enough for those of us that loved him, I thought the quote below would be appropriate.

“I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”

London, J. (1916)

I miss him and think of him often.

Rest in peace my friend.
